About the Program
'Hire & Train' is an employment-oriented training program conducted by the local IT institutions under supervision of the Institute of Information Technology of Dhaka University. This program is a project of 'Enhancing Digital Government and Economy' (EDGE), funded by World Bank.
The "Hire and Training Model" is a good way to help people get ready for jobs in the digital world. It's effective because organizations work together to train young people in important technologies like AI, IoT, Blockchain, Cyber Security, Big Data etc.
The World Bank-funded 'Enhancing Digital Government and Economy (EDGE) Project' is a big step in developing the IT and IT Enabled Sector. By providing funds for training to companies focused on job placements, this project helps companies grow and connects education with employment.
In our country people those are higher educated, unemployed rate is highest among them. By the end of 2022, Bangladesh had nearly 800,000 unemployed university graduates, and the unemployment rate was highest among them at 12%, according to the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics.
Opportunities in Employment:
Trainees of this program have embarked on diverse career paths within the realm of Information technology. Their roles span from software developers to software engineers, business analyst, data scientist, AI specialist, ERP system analysts and consultants. This diversity underscores the program's ability to cater to a wide spectrum of career aspirations within the field.
Our Experience with Trainees
From our experience in ‘Hire and Train’ program, teaching the courses like AI & ASP.NET Core, we found that most of the trainees were eager to learn and willing to work more on the practical projects. Most of the trainees needed extra time for learning so, we had to arrange additional online classes for them.
Achievements in Job Placement:
After successfully completion of the course, we have selected and hired thirty-one trainees out of forty after going through evaluation process of both IIT and us. 50% of them joined to work in artificial intelligence and 50% in ASP.NET Core.
Projects that newly Recruited Employees are Working in
Fortunately, we have found a contact in Australia in September 2023 to develop a Property Management System by integrating number of AI features for Australian market. Our responsibility is to develop the software as per given features and the Australian part will market the product. Our AI team is working on this project, 50% of the project work has been completed by this time; at the end of November 2023.
Fifteen individuals were selected from the ASP.NET Core program, with ten of them actively contributing to an ERP project at the Bangladesh Border Guard. Concurrently, these ten trainees are engaged in developing a 'Real Estate Project Management System' for a local company. Their performance has been commendable, meeting the clients' requirements and ensuring satisfactory progress. The remaining five trainees found opportunities in various IT companies over time.
This noble aspiration seeks to guide the higher-educated but unemployed younger generation towards self-sustainability. To realize this vision, it is imperative to adapt the program in accordance with evolving real-time scenarios and trends. We trust that the relevant authorities will give due consideration to this adjustment.
